China’s SOLAR GREAT WALL makes them more competitive because investing in solar is an investment in the future of their businesses and their country.
China is the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world so it’s such great news that they’re embracing renewable energy. Reducing their emissions helps us all in our fight for clean air.
Their clean energy statistics are worth noting. Their total national ‘clean-‘energy’ consumption went from 15.5% to 26.4% in the last 10 years – that’s a 10.9% change. Although, the paper reporting this did say that change includes nuclear.
Global Renewable Energy Leader
Having said that, I’m focusing on how they’ve recently emerged as the renewable energy global leaders. This leader position stems from their renewable energy additions which have increased the world’s total renewables energy capacity by 40% since 2013.
Sadly, they still use coal for 40% – 60% of their energy (depending on what you read) and there are issues with transmission of solar and wind energy to where it’s needed. But, as their renewables become more and more afforadable the switch away from coal should follow.
Do Renewables Make China More Competitive?
The answer is, YES! China’s investment into renewables will make energy less expensive for their manufacturing so China’s cost of doing business will be lower too, hence more competitive.
Power Entire Cities With Solar
The Energy Age Blog says: China is the world leader in solar manufacturing, and they’re putting that accolade to use as the country attempts to build what it calls the “Solar Great Wall.”
The excellent news about renewables?
Every energy supplier and every home and every company can move to renewables. It will reduce the cost of doing business and reduce the cost of living for households everywhere.
The things is that you as a consumer have to ask for it, demand it even. Hunt out companies that already supply renewable energy in your area and switch to them.
Most importanatly it improves air quality for our children, our pets, our entire families and communities.

Switching to renewables is a no-brainer
Using renewables means:
- Increased energy stability against fossil fuel market supply fluctuations
- Less dependence on outside energy markets
- Reduced emissions using renewables mean lower medical costs due to pollution-related health problems
- Less expensive renewables means lower household costs during cost-of-living crisis
- Lower cost of renewable energy means lower business overhead so greater competitiveness
- Savings from using less expensive renewables frees up governmental money for other pressing issues
The global weighted average cost of electricity from solar PV fell by 89 per cent to USD 0.049/kWh, almost one-third less than the cheapest fossil fuel globally.
Onshore Wind Farms
Onshore wind went down by 69 per cent to USD 0.033/kWh in 2022, slightly less than half that of the cheapest fossil fuel-fired option in 2022.Read full article here
Why Buy Toxic Fossil Fuel Energy When You Could Have Renewables?
That’s a really good question.
Renewables Not Only Give Cleaner Energy but Renewables Give Energy Stability
“Without the deployment of renewables over the last two decades, the economic disruption from the fossil fuel price shock in 2022 would have been much worse and possibly beyond many governments ability to soften with public funding.”
