Air Pollution Fighting Tools

Air Pollution Fighting Tools

The technology behind the Air Pollution Fighting Tools like Climate Trace, Climate Tracker, and MethaneSAT have probably been around for a while but now anyone can use them. That means you!

These are powerful tools in your fight against air pollution for your organization, community, state, county or country. Instead of just complaining that the air smells bad or looks gray, now you can show just how bad it is by using powerful maps and tools.

Some of these tools show the type of emissions and their sheer volumes pouring from toxic sources.

As we all know, these emissions don’t stay where they originate. They spread out over vast areas to other communities, states, even countries. It’s why working to control and/or eliminate these sources will improve health worldwide.

One of the most unfair parts about air pollution is that very often it’s the people who can afford to fight it the least who are impacted the hardest. That’s where Climate Justice comes in.

Fight for Climate Justice

What is Climate Justice?

These tracing tools will also help fight for climate justice because when you can pinpoint the source and see its emissions emanating from that source it presents a case that’s hard argue with.

The source doesn’t need to be right next door to affect your children’s health. Look at these .‘Sacrifice Zones’: Plastic Production is Decimating These 5 Communities Around the World. And while they may not be in your country or locale they are still affecting you and your planet.

This free tool allows you to see the amount of CO2 and CO2 equivalents being released into the air near you. Use this tool to for class action suits or as ammunition to block any new fossil fuel and coal exploration or refining efforts near you. Climate Trace gives so much hope for targeted tackling of climate change.🌍

Climate Trace

Use Climate Trace to show:

  • Emissions zone
  • Type of Emissions – oil, gas, wood burning, filtering, coal,
  • Amount of emissions
  • Where these emission spread

Watch this video to learn more about Climate Trace.

If you need a little guidance naviagating the site, message me. Very happy to help!

Air Tracker

Air Tracker produced by Environmental Defense Fund’s Global Clean Air Initiative is a good tool to use along with Climate Trace and MethaneSAT (below) to get a fuller picture and confirmation of what’s going in your region. Note: Air Tracker is currenlty only available in the United States and Rio de Janeiro. https://globalcleanair.org/air-tracker/map

2. Methane SAT

MethaneSAT uses incredible technology to show actionable climate data presented with support from Bezos Earth Fund, The Audacious Project and New Zealand Space Agency.

If you or your group need extra facts to back up your regional air pollution fight this techonology is fantastic. Check it out
